Chemi and Cotex Industries (CCIL) was started in 1970s by Mr.Yogesh Manek as a family owned consumer product organisation. The business developed and evolved over a period of time from a family-owned enterprise to a professionally managed consumer Product organisation and with support from Private Equity Investors. CCIL operates in Oralcare, Cosmetics and Foods Categories. The oralcare Brand, ‘Whitedent’, is a market leader in Oralcare category in Tanzania. The cosmetics brand, ‘Bannisters’ is another market leader in cosmetics. In addition, there are many other brands like Bodyline, Babysoft, U& Me, Siri, Lovely, Tressa etc. In foods, ‘Simba Chef’, which again is a market leader in..many food categories like Vinegar, Baking Powder etc.
In Tanzania, CCIL distributes its products directly to the retail and wholesale outlets. CCIL has 13 branches and more than 180 vehicles – Small and Big to cover the retail outlets. This helps CCIL to ensure that their products are delivered to every corner of Tanzania.Apart from Tanzania, CCIL has established itself in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda through wholly owned subsidiaries. It has its presence in Zambia and Burundi through exclusive distributors. In addition, CCIL also exports its products to Congo, Malawi and Angola through traders CCIL has its state of art manufacturing facility at Mbezi in Dar es Salam, Tanzania. CCIL manufactures all its products in this location. It is an integrated manufacturing facility with backward linkages to manufacture packing materials in addition to manufacturing of consumer products. This backward linkage helps to manage better quality packing materials at competitive prices.The company has established its presence in Ethiopia by taking up stake in Cosmar Ethiopia. Cosmar Ethiopia is a consumer product company with interests in Cosmetics.
Cotex Industries Ltd.
The company was initially founded in the late 1970s and expanded rapidly from 2000 with the merger of Chemipack & Cotex industries to Create ChemiCotex and establish a modern facility in Mbezi, dar es salaam. ChemiCotex was operating with two broad divisions as FMCG and Plastic & Metal Division. In FMCG, the Company manufactures and markets in wide range of products which are market leader in Tanzania.
In order to have focused approach and independent growth & expansion plans, In 2016, new company was formed for Plastic & metal Division i.e COTEX INDUSTRIES LTD.
Cotex Industries is one of the largest converters in Tanzania of basic metal and Plastic raw materials to finished products like Nails, Welded Meshes, Expanded Metals, Chainlink fences, Barbed wire fences etc as also plastic water storage tanks, crates, HDPE pipes, Plastic chairs etc. These products are widely used by the construction Industry and for fresh water transmission to households.

The Company is also actively exploring possibility of exporting these to neighbouring countries, many of which are land locked.

Nyanza Mines Tanganyika Ltd.
Nyanza Mines is located in Uvinza, Kigoma region, Tanzania. Uvinza is about 120 km from Kigoma Town along Lake Tanganyika. The salt processing facility is about 1000 kms away from the ocean but are blessed with unlimited high density underground brine. Brine (Salt Water) is known to have occurred in the Uvinza since a long time and history records show that salt was used as a commodity in Barter Trade with Congo, Burundi and Rwanda, the land locked countries bordering Tanzania.
